Prayers 29th November 2023,

From light comes life.

Deep in the earth, a seed begins to grow.

In our imagination, an idea takes root.

In a moment, love grows.

Safe in the womb, a baby turns.

A candle is lit.

We light a candle for hope, sending

prayers high into the inky heavens and

dreams deep into our human soul.

We light a candle for hope. May it light our way.

We say the Lords Prayer in our own language

Reading Isaiah 63 v7-9

I will make mention of the mercies of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord,
According to all that the Lord has granted us,
And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which He has granted them according to His compassion
And according to the abundance of His mercies.
For He said, “Certainly they are My people,
Offspring who will not deal falsely.”
So He became their Saviour.
In all their distress He was distressed,
And the angel of His presence saved them;
In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them,
And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.

We pray for Israelis and Palestinians, the hostages of both sides and the war in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, for Ukrainians and Russians, for Syria, Ethiopia, for Kosova and Serbia and all places where there is war. We pray for peace makers and humanitarian corridors, for the children and the terrified and for people of good will to work together to change the world.

Send you Spirit to heal bodies, minds and spirits and help people to turn away from what harms them. Let your angels be beside them and us at this time and protect us. In Jesus Name we pray.

In the depth of silence

No words are needed

We are just called to listen

And in the midst of confusion

To hear your voice. Amen.
