From light comes life.
Deep in the earth, a seed begins to grow.
In our imagination, an idea takes root.
In a moment, love grows.
Safe in the womb, a baby turns.
Song “Bless the Lord my soul”
A candle is lit.
We light a candle for hope, sending
prayers high into the inky heavens and
dreams deep into our human soul.
We light a candle for hope. May it light our way.
We say the Lords Prayer in our own language
Psalm 25
Turn to me and be gracious to me,
For I am lonely and afflicted.
17The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses.
18 Look at my misery and my trouble,
And forgive all my sins.
19 Look at my enemies, for they are many,
And they hate me with violent hatred.
20 Guard my soul and save me;
Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.
21 Let integrity and uprightness protect me,
For I wait for You.
22 Redeem Israel, God,
From all his distress.
We pray this Advent time, a time of waiting, for peace, throughout the world, where little children cannot sleep because of the sound of bombs falling, where people are imprisoned for protesting about the abuse of human rights, where temperatures soar because of climate change and forests burn, for the vulnerable in this Covid time and those sick and dying, for the homeless in their own country and those far from home, for asylum seekers and refugees the world over, and finally for our children and grandchildren who we must give a better future. In Jesus name we pray, Amen
Song “I shall not want”
In our watching and in our waiting
Come Lord Jesus
In our hopes and our fears
Come Lord Jesus
In our homes and in our world
Come Lord Jesus
