From light comes life.
Deep in the earth, a seed begins to grow.
In our imagination, an idea takes root.
In a moment, love grows.
Safe in the womb, a baby turns.
A candle is lit.
We light a candle for peace, sending
prayers high into the inky heavens and
dreams deep into our human soul.
We light a candle for peace. May it light our way.
Song “Adore”
Forgive us
When we choose the wrong way
Restore us
Help us to have compassion for ourselves and others
To create a world that is good and just
And to carry your dream within us
The Lord’s Prayer in our own language
Isaiah 25
On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare
a feast of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine—
the best of meats and the finest of wines.
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
8 he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.
We pray this Advent time, a time of waiting, for people and situations that are on our hearts, for people who cannot afford to heat their homes or buy food, for those on strike, for those on long hospitals waiting lists, for people with Covid ongoing in so many countries, for Ukraine, Russia, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Israel, Hong Kong, China, our governments, for those who are alone and those suffering with depression, for the homeless, asylum seekers and refugees and victims of climate change.
May we not fail you though we face great dangers.
Give us your peace, your wisdom and your strength. Amen
Song “When love came down”
In our watching and in our waiting
Come Lord Jesus
In our hopes and our fears
Come Lord Jesus
In our homes and in our world
Come Lord Jesus
Come Lord Jesus, when least expected.
