I call on the Spirit of God
To meet me in my helplessness
God in my thinking
God in my speaking
Song “He came down”
I call on the clarity of God
To meet me in my confusion
I call on the mercy of God
To meet me in my brokenness
And help me not to contribute
To the brokenness of the world
God in my meeting,
God in my parting.
We say the Lord’s Prayer in our own language
Reading John 20
18 Mary Magdalene came and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and that He had said these things to her.
We pray for people and situations we are concerned about; for those living with war and conflict, Ukraine, Russia, Yemen, Palestine, Myanmar, Rohingyas, Uighurs, Hong Kong, Belarus, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, for our own country, for those facing climate change disasters, for those with Covid, for doctors and nurses, carers, for refugees and the homeless and those hungry, and tormented. May God’s hand be upon us, your angels protect us and the Spirit work in and around us. Amen
Song “Siyahamba”
When we are despairing and see no way ahead
Roll back the stone!
When we are frightened and fear for our life
Roll back the stone!
When we are hungry, thirsty and need shelter
Roll back the stone!
When we need a miracle to change our lives
Roll back the stone!
