Evening Prayers November 1st 2020,

We stand

Against injustice

And hope for a better world

Where everyone is housed

And fed

A world of abundance

Bless us on that journey

You entrusted the earth to us

And we have destroyed it

The forests are burning

Animals are dying

Our world is sick

Forgive us

Restore our vision and help us to act bravely to save this precious world

We say the Lord’s Prayer in our own language

Reading Psalm 11

In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to me,
    “Flee like a bird to the mountains;
for look, the wicked bend the bow,
    they have fitted their arrow to the string,
    to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart.
If the foundations are destroyed,
    what can the righteous do?”

The Lord is in his holy temple;
    the Lord’s throne is in heaven.
    His eyes behold, his gaze examines humankind.
The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,
    and his soul hates the lover of violence.
On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulphur;
    a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
For the Lord is righteous;
he loves righteous deeds;
    the upright shall behold his face.

Our prayers

We pray tonight for those in lockdown, for children and teaching staff, for doctors and health workers, for people who are isolated and exhausted, for wise decisions by government, for the people of Hong Kong, Bolivia, Belarus, Syria, Yemen, Armenia, Thailand, Nigeria and Hong Kong, for the US and the UK and for those countries we never hear about, and those we know who need our help and prayers and who we carry in our hearts tonight.

Send you Spirit to heal bodies, minds and spirits and help people to turn away from what harms them. Let your angels be beside them and us at this time and protect us. In Jesus Name we pray.

Bless to us

The moon that is above us

The earth that is beneath us

Friends and family around us

Your image within us

And the rest that is before us.

Amen.
