The Lord’s Prayer in our own language
Reading Romans 2v13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law.15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.)
Our Prayers
We pray for people and situations we are concerned about including the victims of stabbings, those with Covid 19, those going to school, the shooting of black people in the US, the chaotic weather, people in lockdown, desperate people crossing the sea in dinghies, continuing deaths from Covid 19, the ongoing unrest in the US, Belarus, arrests in Hong Kong and the ongoing wars in Syria and Yemen, Russian democracy, the rise of fascism, the government, the Rohinga Muslims, Muslims being persecuted in China, protection for key workers and adequate PPE, protection for Black and Asian people, for people on low or no incomes, for those with underlying health conditions and those over 60, care for those who are alone and those suffering with depression, protection for asylum seekers and refugees and ensuring that food is reaching the vulnerable and global warming.
May we not fail you. Amen
